Use Weekends to Wage Your Wellness War
"You gotta make it a priority to make your priorities a priority." - Richie Norton
You Must Be Priority #1
Everyone wants to get "fit", to be healthy!
Unfortunately, not everyone makes it a PRIORITY. Not everyone finds the time.
We all know...everyone wants to look better in their bathing suit, feel better in their own skin, perform better in their daily life. There is no question, deep down, every human being wants these things.
So, why do some reach their goals, but most do not?
They have a plan AND they focus ONLY on the very next action to be taken!
A Few Minutes of Planning
Let's be clear, without a concrete, well-thought-out plan in place, every ounce of action taken, irrelevant of the goal, is being taken in hope of getting one where they want to be.
Is this really the best way to go about achieving any goal, much less a truly meaningful one?
Honestly, is this the way you plan your vacations? Your flights? Your drive to work?
Not likely. So why do we take such a haphazard approach to our health and wellness? Hmmmm...
What does any of this have to do with your weekends?
Simple! Since most of us live our business/work life Monday thru Friday, thus the weekends being where the majority of our "free time" sits...finding 15-30 minutes to PLAN the upcoming week is far from impossible.
Find some quiet time, spend a few minutes with your calendar in-hand, looking at your upcoming week and after you block out your known business and personal appointments and responsibilities, SCHEDULE YOUR FITNESS.
When will you workout? What will you be doing for exercise? How long will you need? What exercises will you be doing? Reps? Sets? The number of intervals? Warmups? Cooldowns?
Anything and everything that applies to the individual session.
"Planning is half the battle." - G.I. Joe
TOP TIP: Use your calendar on your phone! Create a separate calendar for exercise or fitness only, with its own color. Map out the days and times for the upcoming weeks worth of sessions, then go into the notes of each individual appointment and map out your actual training. Update the notes as you go through your session and the next time you do this same training, simply copy/paste your previous note into the new one. You not only have your plan but goals on what you need to beat from the last workout. BOOM!
One Step at a Time
Well done! A few minutes have been spent mapping out your plan of attack. This is huge!
But, bad news, even the best-laid plans, if not carried out PROPERLY, will fail.
What does properly mean?ONE STEP AT A TIME!
Far too many people set wild, long-term goals, map out some sort of plan, then focus on the outcome! This is a guaranteed way to achieve FAILURE, not success!
Without the ability toFOCUS solely on the very next moment, the very next thing, associated with your plan, anyone/everyone will lose their way.
If you took the time to plan, you can see, reaching your destination will take time. It will take one action, followed by another, followed by another and so on. Depending on the goal, the number of steps varies, but the one thing we know for sure...if you don't take step #1, you cannot take step #2.
Once you have a plan, the ONLY thing you need to focus on is the ONE THING that must be done FIRST...NEXT!
No need getting fixated on how long it will take because that is based on a whole slew of currently unknown, most likely uncontrollable variables.
One workout. One cardio session. One meal. One DECISION. One ACTION...at a time!
Nothing more, nothing less!
We promise you this...when you plan properly and control your focus, better health and wellness is a whole lot easier to accomplish and maintain.
Unrealistic goals, unnecessary pressure provides no benefit at all.
So, why not give it a try? What in the world do you have to lose? The 15-30 minutes you take to give it a go? Trust us, you would have been blowing that time on social media or television anyway. Give yourself a fighting chance.
Before your next weekend ends, plan your fitness battle, then carry out your attack, one triumph at a time.
