8 Proven Ways to Boost Your Immune System

A strong immune system will lead to a happy, healthy life!

Let’s be honest, some people are really, really lucky, right? They never get sick, not even the slightest cold.

Are they really that lucky by birth? If not, what in the world do they know that the masses do not?

8 Proven Ways to Boost Your Immune System

More brutal honesty now! They probably make it a point to take care of their IMMUNE SYSTEM. You know, that thing that takes care of you…when you treat it well.

Every single one of us has the ability to enhance our immune system and lessen the chances of catching a cold, getting the flu, or becoming ill.

The simple fact is, how we live, what we eat, which supplements we use…all play a role in the health of your immune system.

If you want fewer colds, less illness…make your frontline defense, your immune system, a priority.

Prevention is always better, less painful, and far less costly than treating an illness, right? So, why not be proactive? hmmm…🤔

To be clear, your immune system is a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work tougher to protect the body. Without such a system, the bacterias, viruses, stresses, etc that we live in and around would be wreaking far more havoc on society on a whole.

If you have any desire at all to heighten your body’s ability to stay healthy, here are 5 simple ways to boost your immune system…

Feed the Body Well

This is most likely common sense, but we want to start here due to its sheer importance. How you eat determines how you look, feel, and perform.

The nutrients you provide your body, through diet and supplementation, are vital to proper immune system operation.

We aren’t going to even begin to tell you that you can’t enjoy your daily diet, but the facts are the facts. The more fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc that contain substances known as phytochemicals and flavonoids do wonders towards protecting the body from damage and illness.

In addition, protein is essential. As the main building block for your body on a whole, a protein deficit is not good news.

As for how much we eat, it is very important to understand, a healthy caloric deficit is quite possibly even worse than a protein deficiency.

A lack of the necessary healthy calories can quickly lead to malnutrition, which means your body will not have the very basics it needs for not only proper immune system function but bodily function as well.

This is not a good place to be…so make sure your caloric intake is on point. Not too much that you are gaining unwanted weight, but certainly not too little that you are losing weight too rapidly and in turn, minimizing your body’s ability to fight the disease causing  “free radicals”.

Get Good Sleep

So many people talk about needing more sleep. They wake tired. They drag for the first few hours of the day. They claim the blame lies with the limited number of hours their eyes get to close.

While some people are certainly running on fumes due to their responsibilities and schedules, the reality for most is not an issue in the number of hours slept, but instead, the quality of the sleep they get.

Getting good, deep sleep allows your body to properly rest, shut down, and release the hormones needed to recover.

One such form of recovery, possibly the most important, is the reduction of your stress levels, and thus cortisol levels. If cortisol levels allowed to remain elevated, your immune system functions will be suppressed. Definitely not good.

So, irrelevant of how many hours of sleep you can currently fit into your schedule, we strongly suggest you try a few things, ASAP, to at the very least, possibly improve your sleeping hours.

Simple adjustments such as cutting out caffeine or workouts within 4-6 hours of bed, limiting electronics (TV, phones, tablets, computers, etc) usage within 30-60 minutes before bed, taking a warm bath, rolling, stretching, meditating, etc, can all work almost immediate wonders.

In addition, you can use certain supplements DreamMode, which include melatonin and other natural ingredients to help your body and mind begin to calm and prepare for sleep.

Minimize Usage of the Bad Guys

This may sound pretty simple, but unfortunately, this may be the toughest suggestion for many to implement.

Alcohol and tobacco usage undermines the very concept and operation of immune system function.

If, in any way, you can lessen the consumption of either or both of these, your body and mind will almost immediately show special thanks.

Note…we did not say ELIMINATE! Baby steps, please! This is, after all, your body, your life. We are merely here to offer some assistance to those who truly want and need it.

Create a Happier, Healthier Gut

Your gut is of the utmost importance when it comes to your immune system and overall health.

How important?

Well, consider that 70-80% of the cells that make up your immune system actually reside in your gut.

Quite important no?

Simply put, a happy, healthy gut, with the right balance of healthy bacteria, is possibly the most crucial aspect to immune system wellness.

Anything and everything you can do to help your gut will go a long way towards your goal of boosting immune system health.

This includes increasing your vegetable intake. Those phytonutrients and antioxidants in the veggies do wonders to help fight off those pesky, unwanted free-radicals. Certain vegetables can also help scrub the digestive tract as well. This will help to absorption and utilization of the vitamins and minerals taken in from the foods you eat.

Another very good idea that can help better gut health…the use of probiotics (good bacteria). This type of bacteria will help with nutrient digestion that boosts colon detoxification and enhances immune system health as well.

While you find a small number of foods that can assist, the reality is, supplementation, with something like FloraMode, is the only surefire way to increase the good bacteria levels to beneficial levels.

Considering the minimal cost and ease of use, probiotic supplementation is highly recommended, maybe only second to OmegaMode (omega-3 fatty acids).

Add More C

This may be shocking, but it appears as though the majority of the population is actually Vitamin C deficient.

Crazy right?

Two big reasons for this shocker. First and foremost, most of the Vitamin C that comes from the foods you eat is not, unfortunately, absorbed by the body.

Second, since Vitamin C is one of the first vitamins to be depleted in drinkers, smokers, athletes partaking in long, strenuous events, and overweight individuals, you can quickly see how so many people are inadvertently using up their C stock through “lifestyle” choices.

Being low in Vitamin C is proven to suppress the immune system (exactly opposite of our goal here) and increase one’s vulnerability to infection.

In other words, be sure to use a Vitamin C supplement daily. DO NOT SKIMP HERE!

Get Moving

As if you needed to hear another reason to be physically active. Too bad, here it goes.

Activity (movement) improves the immune system. Plain and simple. No if, ands, or buts about it.

The human body was not built to sit and lay and become immobile. In fact, we believe the moment movement ceases…deaths begins.

Yes, that sounds terrible we know. But movement is to the body what reading is to the mind. DO BOTH!

Keep it simple. Shoot for 15-30 minutes of moderate-level activity a day if you want to increase immune system health.

See the Light

Vitamin D, just like Vitamin C, is essential for a healthy functioning immune system. In addition, Vitamin D also helps the body produce antibodies.

While almost everyone knows that sunlight helps the body produce Vitamin D, it goes without saying, too much sunlight has its own downsides as well.

When you couple this with weather issues based on one’s location, indoor jobs, daily schedules, etc, it is easy to quickly see how getting enough sun might not only be unhealthy overall but downright tough to do anyway.

These circumstances lead to less Vitamin D production. This means supplementation is a very useful tool here, just like with Vitamin C and probiotics.

While we encourage supplemental Vitamin D in order to ensure your basis is covered, getting outdoors, as often as possible, even if just for 5-10 minutes at a time, is good not only for increasing Vitamin D production but your mental state as well.

Make it a priority. Take a break every hour. Step outside. Soak up some rays.

Relax

Stress kills. We’re aren’t talking just your immune system here either.

Sure, living with high levels of stress will absolutely lower your immunity and cause increased bouts of sickness, but stress also kills happiness.

Anger, anxiety, worry etc…all negative mental states that hamper almost everything else.

Find some ways, if you know you suffer at any significant level from stress, to lessen the damage.   At the very least, make an effort to manage your daily stresses.

Remember, you are not responsible for everything that happens, but you are responsible for how you react to everything that happens.

Control your emotions, control your life.

Not meant to sound easy, but instead, sound important. Make this a priority each and every day. Even the slightest of improvement in emotional “control” will bring benefits, including, but certainly not limited to, enhanced immunity.

Wrapping It All Up

You can probably imagine, the above suggestions are not the ONLY things you can, and should, do to strengthen your immune system, but they are a very good start.

Sure, some are going to be easier and some will require a true desire to change. No matter which you choose to implement, remind yourself of the value of taking care of this important system in your body that is responsible for taking care of you.

Until next time, stay happy, healthy, and safe!

Always Remember…

You only have one life to live, one body to live it in, so take care of it. Progress, not perfection. Good, better, best with your food intake and some form of movement daily. Get your nutritional foundation from food, supplement where necessary, and drink plenty of water. We are here to help so feel free to drop us comments or questions as often as you’d like and always consult your physician before making any changes to your diet or exercise regiment.
