Everyone is Looking for Top Tips to Manage Their Weight

These days, even though we have access to more information and better science than ever before, people are still looking for some magic pill or potion that will alleviate all their weight management issues. While one day, we might very well see such a tool, the truth is, it simply does not exist yet. Therefore, tried and true tips to manage your weight are your best bet. So, in order to help the cause for millions, we decided to put together our top ten weight management tips, in a nice and neat little series. Let us know which ones you put to use, and/or find the most beneficial.

Why Our Weight Continues to Increase

Let's be honest, we can most likely assume, before cameras and mirrors, weight management wasn't nearly as big a concern as it is today. People didn't see themselves, and more importantly, didn't compare themselves the way they do now. Oh, how nice that life must have been, huh?

Previous generations simply didn't concern itself with weight loss the way we do today. Unfortunately, previous generations probably didn't concern themselves with their overall health as much as we do today either. These lack of concerns, as well as, bad advice, advancements in food processing, more stress, less time, etc have all led to consistent weight gain throughout society. Heck, even the aerobics craze in the 70s and 80's made us fatter as a society.

To make matters worse, throw in the advances in technology. More screen time, more sitting, less movement, etc. Do not kid yourself; the technological advances we have seen in the last 20-30 years have made us a whole lot lazier!

More and more adults work in front of computers or are no longer required to do manual labor due to machines and robotics. Our children spend more time on their Playstations, Gameboys or in front of the PCs or TVs, then they do outside playing sports or running around. These changes require a very focused effort to get more exercise and adjust eating habits.

Unfortunately, this just hasn't happened at the levels most require in order to manage their weight properly, so it's time for all of us to implement some useful tips to help us do just that and combat the world we now live in.

Let's Lose Some Unwanted Weight

In order to help as many as possible shed at least a few of those stubborn pounds, we decided to drop our Top Tips into this series. It is not that we didn't want to give you all the info or hide anything from you.

Instead, we know, with absolute certainty, the most progress is made when one is able to focus on implementing one change at a time. So, how about we jump in now with Top Tip #1 and our most important suggestion

Water, Water, and More Water

Far too often, we simply don't realize just how much of an effect even minor dehydration has on our body. Want the quickest, easiest way to manage your weight and just feel a whole lot better?

DRINK MORE WATER!

In fact, in many cases, when an individual has a feeling that they perceive as hunger, they may actually be dehydrated, not hungry. Water is vital! Over 66% of your body weight is water, hence the reason it plays such a large role in weight control. The more water we drink, the less water we will retain. Counterintuitive maybe, but a fact nonetheless, so use it to your immediate advantage.

While the standard recommendation is that everyone drink at least 8-10 glasses per day, we would personally love for every adult to shoot for a gallon a day.

While that may sound like a lot and your initial reaction might be just like so many others, I can't drink that much water!...sure you can! Work up to it slowly if need be. Also, remember to include in your count the water used for your tea, coffee, meal replacements, pre-workout, protein shakes, etc.

Your body needs water, a lot of it. Water doesn't just flush all the toxins out of your body, but it truly makes the whole body look better, feel better, and work better too.

The best thing about water is you can drink as much as you want because it has no calories at all. When you're drinking enough water, you tend to eat less as well, due to the feeling of f ullness.

If, at any point, you feel even the slightest bit of hunger coming on, drink a glass of water. While you may truly be hungry if nothing else the water intake will fill you some, buy you a little time, and possibly, cause you to eat a bit less!

The simplest way to ensure ample water intake throughout the day is by simply carrying a gallon jug. Come on now, no excuses. We know it's not a pretty accessory, but is that really that much to ask in order to lean out a bit and feel better?

A little preparation really goes a long way here. Fill your jug or container each night and put it in the fridge. Simple! Just don't forget to take it with you each morning. After a week, it will be a welcome habit!

A few more water thoughts...start each day with a cold glass of water immediately upon waking, drink a glass of water before each meal and lastly, down another glass during each meal. If you did these three things, your water intake has been met. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't drink or sip water between meals, but this should show you just how easy it is to reach your water intake goals each day.

For those who work in extremely warm environments or who are manual laborers of any sort, remember, the more energy you exert, the more water you require! Drink more! Athletes and hard trainers, this goes for you as well! Drink before, during, and after physical activities.

So, with all that said, is this really that tough of a tip to tackle? We think not! Get to it! DRINK YOUR WATER...and stay tuned for Top Tip #2.
